Dear GECKA friends,
Dear GECKA friends,
First of all, it is my pleasure to welcome each and every one of you to enrich the most nostalgic memories of our campus life through NostalGeck’22. I hope all are doing well after the pandemic clouds which separated us physically but helped us to meet online often. In a way, it helped us making the NostalGeck dream a reality in less than three months. We formed over 15 committees to fine tune the various activities of NostalGeck including programs, venue, magazine, contents, marketing, finance, sponsorship etc. The magazine in your hand is the fruit of sleepless nights and dedication of over 30 members in the last two months. I wish to extend my heartiest thanks to all such dedicated minds and members in all committees.
I am delighted to introduce this historic magazine which is the first of its kind by our alumni in the last 20 years. The current alumni committee which is officially selected by the general body held in June 2021, took charge in the peak pandemic time which limited us in organizing any offline programs. Even then, we managed to organize multiple events on campus for the final year students to shape their career goals. One of the first initiatives taken by the committee was to support one of our members financially as they were in need of an urgent surgery – to which we contributed around Rs.10 lakhs in less than 3 weeks with generous support from our members in India and abroad.
The primary objective of our college alumni is to connect the members, support them in their careers and help them in social, moral and financial scenarios. Being the first Alumni committee with only alumni members, our resolute aim is to provide a strong foundation for the global alumni to ensure the fruits of efforts will last forever. The first task was to make a strong database collecting the details of over 6000 members spread around 35 countries across the globe and to connect them through various social media platforms to ensure all are informed on various alumni/college events and drives. The Alumni chapters in UAE, Qatar and KSA were highly active for almost a decade with various social and cultural programs. The committee identified over 15 more chapters in India and abroad with a strong presence of members. Some of the chapters are formally started and connected through local WhatsApp groups to strengthen the relationship and to envisage the alumni theme “bond beyond campus”
As a member of GECK Alumni, rather than a president, I can proudly say the efforts of the current committee will enlighten the future committees and will maintain a fully connected network of entire GECKians around the globe to take us further beyond. I request everyone to connect with our Alma mater more often to nurture the long-term progress of college, faculties and students. Many of our members who are experts in various sectors and working in key roles in reputed firms can support our juniors technically and professionally including mentoring, internships and placements. The various chapters will serve as ‘home away home’ for the future generations to plan their career wherever they need globally. Identify your local chapters and organize local meetups and events to strengthen the individual bond and growth of alumni association. Please join hands together and bring everyone together to build a strong and meaningful GECK Alumni with a motto “One for All and All for One”.
Enjoy NostalGeck and keep your magazine safely as a key to the golden campus memories.
Thank You
Fasal Rahman,
President, GECKA
